If you shlould decide to go on a chinese Tour, you will also spend half the days with souvenir retreats. The buses shuv their masses of tourists from one selling temple to the next.
Most of the times the well-organized local people sell one product in a huge hall. Here they sell combs made from Yak horns.
In the next they sell jewelleries. Prices vary from 30 to 500 Euro today.. If you wanna have something extraordinary you can also spend extraordinary money, too. So 500's Not really the limit.
In China it is common that the travel agencies get a share on the tourists shopping. In germany it may be called "Butterfahrt", but as I said here it is very common. If you dont buy anything at all, it may be seen as a rather unusual or odd behaviour. Still, you will never be forced to buy anything.
